Christian Black is our Alumni Spotlight for May!
Christian is a member of the graduating class of 2020. After graduation, Christian attended Kettering University and currently works as an IT Specialist in Cybersecurity.
Christian truly loved band and all of the friendships he developed and still has today. Those were some of the best times of his High School years. Christian also loved being part of the robotics team. It helped him really learn to be part of a team and grew his love of working in the tech industry.
Christian was on the track team, football team, robotics team, part of 4H, National Honors Society, and worked in his mom's classroom.
Mr. Russell, the band teacher was Christian’s Favorite Falcon. He made everything fun. He had great ideas, loved to talk about music, and he shared new ways of doing things and ways to think about things.
Christian loved goofing around in his class and then being super serious when it was needed. Christian remembers always trying new things. If they failed, it was fine, and he could try it again if he wanted to.
If Christian could go back and give himself advice when he was a LakeVille student, he would say - Have as many adventures as you can! Don't hold back and try it all! Maybe try a bit harder on your grades, but have fun doing it!

Melanie Chappell is the Falcon Award winner for March. Here is the nomination written on her behalf.
Melanie has been an absolute pleasure in the high school's front office. When a student or staff member walks through the door, her warm smile and genuine recognition make them feel welcome and right at home. She has a remarkable ability to remember names and personal details that most people overlook, and she is dedicated to providing a truly personalized experience for every visitor and colleague.
Her attention to detail is second to none. Whether she is managing schedules, coordinating communications, or making sure every document is accurate and ready to go, she approaches every task with care and precision. Nothing slips through the cracks when Melanie is at the front office.
Beyond her professional skills, it is her personality that truly sets her apart. She brings a positive, welcoming energy to the entire office, uplifting the team and leaving a lasting impression on everyone she meets. We are incredibly fortunate to have someone of her caliber representing the front office at the high school of our district every single day.

Our GSRP preschool students enjoyed another amazing morning of learning and laughter thanks to the kindness and generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Leoni, owners of Tau Garden's Garden Center. Students traveled by bus to the garden center where they were welcomed with a guided tour through the beautiful greenhouse.
During their visit, each child had the opportunity to plant a flower in a customized pot to create a special Mother’s Day gift. The flowers, pots, and soil were generously donated by Tau Garden’s, making this hands-on learning experience even more meaningful for our students and staff.
We are so thankful for community partners like Tau Gardens who continue to support our preschool program and create memorable experiences for our children through exploration, creativity, and learning. GSRP staff would also like to shout out to Annamarie Wersackas for her hand in making these moments come together!
